The Learning Resource Centre (LRC)

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC)

The LRC is open every school day from 8:15am to 4:00pm (Thursdays and Fridays to 3:45pm).

Students can drop in and choose a book from our large selection of fiction and non-fiction titles or find a quiet spot and catch up with some reading during breaktime and lunch.

The LRC computers are available for use for school/homework before and after school, and during break and lunchtimes (Monday – Thursday).

Prep Club is held in the LRC Monday - Thursday 3:30 to 4:30pm.

No food or drink is allowed in the library.

Borrowing Books

Students can borrow up to 3 books at a time, for a period of 3 weeks. We have wide selection of fiction and non-fiction titles to suit all abilities and tastes.

The return date is stamped inside each book and students are expected to return or renew their books on time. Should a book become overdue a reminder will be sent, if a book is more than 3 months overdue, or has been lost or damaged a letter will be sent home asking that the replacement cost be paid.

Accessit

Students can log into AccessIt on the school computers and from home via the student intranet which allows them to browse the library catalogue. They can see the books they have out currently and past loans. They can also submit book reviews or reserve books. To log in students use their normal school login details.

Clubs

Throughout the year different reading related clubs are held in the LRC, including Carnegie Award Shadowing and Reading Scrapbooks. Students can talk to the librarian if they are interested in joining.

Every Friday lunchtime is Quiet Reading time in the LRC. During this time the LRC is a ‘Screen-free zone’.

Classes

Staff can book the library and computer resources for class use when required.

Stationery for sale

Basic stationery items are on sale in the LRC during break and lunchtime.
