Extra-Curricular

There are a range of leadership and extra-curricular opportunities available in the Sixth Form and students are required to engage in one of the many enrichment programmes available. These include Duke of Edinburgh Award, Sports Leadership Awards or Pastoral/Academic mentoring of lower school students.

In addition, prefects have an important role in representing the school and assisting staff, both inside and outside of school; this is regarded as a great honour. Year 12 students who wish to be considered submit a written application which is viewed by staff in the school before voting occurs. The four boys and four girls with the highest number of votes are invited to apply for the positions of Head Boy, Head Girl and their Deputies. All eight make presentations to their year group who then vote for their top choice. Elected prefects take up their posts for one year after the Easter holiday of Year 12. The charities prefects lead the Sixth Form during Charities Week to raise money for a number of domestic and international causes. In 2018, nearly £13,000 was raised through impressive levels of hard work.

Students' personal development is also outstanding.

The students are represented by the Sixth Form Committee. Each tutor group chooses two students to sit on the Committee which is led by two senior prefects. They meet fortnightly to address students’ issues. This committee works closely with the Sixth Form Leadership Team. The Sixth Form is also represented on the Student Union which meets every half-term.

Music plays a significant part in the life of St Clement Danes and students with musical talent can join the orchestra or one of the smaller ensembles to perform in public at one of the many school events. Similarly, there are also senior drama productions and successful senior sports teams that students can join. There are also many organised extra-curricular activities such as visits to museums, the theatre, art galleries and places of geographical interest.
