GCSE History students visit Rochester Castle

On Friday 3rd November, Year 11 History students visited Rochester Castle and Cathedral as part of their studies. Rochester Castle is one of the best-preserved and finest examples of Norman architecture in England. Students had an invaluable opportunity to visit this incredible castle and fortified complex, which was the location of a formidable siege by King John in 1215. The visit was designed to reinforce student understanding of key components of their GCSE syllabus, which includes the study of castles during the period 1000-1750. The visit to Rochester Cathedral also reinforced student understanding of the changes that happened to the Church and society during the reformation.

Students reported that it had been a fascinating day, and the visit had given them a greater insight into the period that they are studying.
